Cristi L. Nelson is a founding partner in the law firm of Ripes Nelson Baggot & Kalobratsos, PC., located In Chicago and Itasca, Illinois. With more than 27 years of legal experience, Ms. Nelson concentrates her practice in the defense of Workers' Compensation matters and Employment related claims. She also conducts real estate transfers.

As a skilled litigator, Ms. Nelson has extensive trial experience before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. She has also argued aggressively in defense of her clients in the Circuit Court of Illinois and Illinois Appellate Court. She has experience in the investigation and defense of all aspects of workers' compensation claims, including but not limited to complex cases involving asbestos related exposure, heart attack cases, cases that involve psychological distress and catastrophic/death cases.

Ms. Nelson is a frequent speaker of presentations encouraging “business smart” claims handling and the fine tuning of investigation skills for mitigation of exposure in workers' compensation cases. She has presented on several occasions to an audience of her peers on topics relating to WC Law in IL by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE)

Ms. Nelson is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the State of Illinois and before the United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois. She has also applied for admission to the Bar in the State of Wisconsin. Her professional affiliations include the Illinois State Bar Association and Workers' Compensation Lawyer’s Association where she held a Board of Directors position for several years. Ms. Nelson has also been acknowledged as a “Super Lawyer” in Chicago and named to the list of “10 Best Workers’ Compensation Attorneys - Illinois” by the American Institute of Legal Counsel, for her exceptional and outstanding client service.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Ms. Nelson received her Bachelor of Arts degree with concentration in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, now the UIC – John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.

In her free time, Cris enjoys traveling and attending Badger Football and Chicago Blackhawks games.
