Mr. Melton was born in Iowa City, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of Iowa and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. At Chicago-Kent, Mr. Melton received a certificate in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute REsolution program and was a certified mediator for the Center for Conflict Resolution.

Mr. Melton concentrates his practice in the defence of workers' compensation matters.

Mr. Melton is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois. His professional affiliations include the American Bar Association.
